An Exploration of Identity, Fragmentation and Isolation

“You Will Rejoice” is A collaboration between Maclaine Black and Ikenna Anyabuike. Honing their skills and refining their craftsmanship in prose, poetry and visual narratives; all fragmented in this upcoming work that poses the question: Are we truly human if our realities feel so inhumane? And if we are not human or even humane. Then what are we? 

The alienation must rupture. You will rejoice.

Fusing multiple elements across cultures, ‘You Will Rejoice.’ seeks to assemble a Frankenstein of meaning to act as commentary on the world we find ourselves in. Beauty from the pieces left behind. Will You Rejoice is not just an art gallery, it is not just a performance event, it is not just a book. It is this synthesis between live and scripted entertainment.

Through the body of work and performances, Mr Anyabuike explores the creative concept through the lens of Afro-Surrealism (a topic he is a foremost researcher of) whilst Black is fixated on “identity erosion” under surveillance and manipulating the human form through photography.

Maclaine Black is an Irish filmmaker and photographer based in Berlin since 2023. Their directorial debut ‘Not Uniquely Incompetent,’ was awarded ‘Best Experimental Short’ at Berlin Independent Film Festival in February of this year.
